The Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) embarks on a “Summer Staycation” raffle to create awareness of Belize’s diverse tourism destinations and attractions – 2012 “Year of the Maya” a time of rebirth and rejuvenation and simultaneously celebrated as the “Year of sustainable tourism” within our Central American region; The Belize Tourism Industry Association has embarked on various projects and plans which will enhance the association and the tourism sector in Belize. As part of the BTIA’s local marketing campaign, we are creating awareness of Belize’s diverse tourism destinations and attractions with a “Summer Staycation” raffle.

The raffle which commenced on April 3rd and was previously to be drawn on April 26th, is now proposed to culminate on June 28th at the BTIA Bi-Annual General Meeting. It is comprised of 11 attractive vacation packages with the first being – the grand prize of a two week, nationwide Belizean tour for a family of four. It will start from Corozal and culminate in Punta Gorda, having the family fully experience “Mother Nature’s Best Kept Secret!” Resorts featured within the Grand Prize are: Tony’s Inn and Beach Resort, La Milpa Ecolodge and Research Center, The Phoenix Resort, Sea Dreams Hotel, Island Magic Beach Resort, The Lodge at Chaa Creek, Hamanasi Adventure & Dive Resort, Blue Marline Beach Resort, A Belizean Nirvana and Coral House Inn.

The 10 other prizes will be comprised primarily of weekend getaways and tour options for two. Hotels featured are: D*Victoria Hotel, Parrot cove lodge, Caye Caulker Plaza Hotel, Belcampo, Chabil Mar, Victoria House, Xanadu Island Resort, Ka’ana Boutique Resort, Hidden Valley Inn and May Flower Bocawina National park.

The primary focus of the raffle is to create an awareness campaign to encourage Belizeans to stay and travel within the country during the slow season – July to October. In addition, the association feels that this innovative campaign will assist to attract more heads in beds for the wider smaller and large hotels within our jewel and stimulate Belizeans with stunning vacation locations throughout the country, in an attempt to create local travel.
