The President and Executive Director of BTIA attended the CIX Ordinary Meeting of the Tourism Council of Central America (CCT) in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, from the 15-19 October 2018.  As part of the technical committee, we received a workshop on the topic: “Digital marketing strategy for the marketing and promotion of Central America and Dominican Republic in Europe 2018/2019”.

The operational annual plan and budget for Central America Tourism Agency (CATA) was reviewed and approved.  The official online platform for Central America: was reviewed.  CATA provided membership dues report, update on the tourism innovation workshop, and the organizational structure of CATA with the goal to increase staff was also reviewed and approved. The week concluded by approving CATA’s 2019 annual operational plan/budget, employment of additional staff, increase of FAM trips for bloggers/influencers, and more digital marketing training opportunities for technical team and for private sector stakeholders.  The next CCT meeting is scheduled for the week of 25th February 2019 in Peten, Guatemala.
