The Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) hosted the 2nd Central American Innovation + Tourism Talk on September 30th, 2019 at the Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina. Over seventy-five stakeholders and industry partners attended the innovation workshop.

The event was organized by the BTIA and the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) in association with the Central American Tourism Agency (CATA) with the aim to facilitate a regional training program focused on digital marketing trends and innovation as it continues to lead the travel industry.   It provided a more in-depth understanding of Google ADS and digital marketing that can guide stakeholders to strategically reach their potential visitors.

Key Presenters included Shamara Valdez-Rubio; Account Strategist from Google LLC and Juan Miguel Moreno from MoreTurismo. Ms. Rubio shared, “the digital takeoff has greatly impacted the way Google platforms function; today Google has become an adverb rather than a noun whereby, users can instantly perform tasks using our tools and also book their travel needs directly using one platform.”  MoreTurismo focused on digital video marketing using smartphones and apps available online.  Executive Director John M. Burgos followed by sharing, “digital marketing today has become an indispensable part of every business irrespective of its size and type. We recognize the need to provide these trainings to our members and industry stakeholders since the increasing role of digital marketing impacts the way businesses promote their offerings to existing and potential new customers. The need for digital marketing has been felt like never before in the tourism industry since customers have instant access to information on the latest offers and best prices.”

The BTIA thanks all participants for being part of this event and we look forward to a greater and bigger participation at the 3rd Central American Innovation + Tourism Talk 2020.  For more information about training activities and opportunities provided by the BTIA, contact us at membership@btia.org, info@btia.org and/or give us a call at (+501) 227-1144.
