Tourism’s vast role in  generating jobs, wealth and economic growth is of great importance to  the Belize Tourism Industry Association and as such, the BTIA has  begun  its  social  work  within  Belize’s institutions, sharing opportunities available within the world’s fastest growing market and career segment.

The BTIA’s Executive Director: Efren Perez along with Membership Officer: Talia Tillett, visited Orange Walk Technical High school and the Mount Carmel Primary School during their Career day, to share the different career options found within the Tourism Industry. The main objective at both events was to enlighten students of their career options and the essential skills and abilities required to work in such an exciting field. Both sessions featured the BTIA as the first presenter so each began with a video introduction of Belize’s diverse attractions followed by a special presentation with career descriptions and options.

Throughout the presentations, students were very enthusiastic and attentive whilst Mr. Perez emphasized the importance of being a service oriented person in order to be successful in the Tourism Industry. He advised students on the importance of finding their inner abilities and skills which would make them the perfect fit for the industry’s future. At the end of the presentations, students were thankful and contributed to the discussion of learning techniques by asking various questions that would prepare them for challenges and demanding careers within the industry.

The BTIA would like to take this opportunity to thank the Orange Walk Technical High School and Mount Carmel Primary School for being gracious hosts and allowing us to share what the BTIA, its members and the Tourism Industry has to offer. Also, kindly note that questions or suggestions on any present and/or future events can be forwarded to our office at 227-1144 or; the BTIA – promoting the sustainable development and growth of the tourism industry.
